Job Description:
GBR Recruitment are working with a well-established construction, steel erecting & civils business, that is looking to recruit an experienced Commercial Director who is highly adept in commercial control measures, to work closely with the Managing Director & SMT in driving forward the commercial business strategies, keeping the business ahead of the competition & on an upward curve.
The commercial director role will focus on maximising the business commercial opportunities, profit margins & bottom / top lines, by delivering an effective sales / commercial strategy & robust contractual management across multiple industry sectors.
Responsibilities include providing sales, contractual, & overall business support, contributing input to strategic decisions within the company, as well as collaborating with the Head of Procurement in order to review & agree preferential contract terms with suppliers wherever possible.
The goal is to ensure the full value of each contract is realised, whilst also maintaining compliance with the Group’s gate approval processes. In addition to supporting department heads, project managers & the wider QS team, during contractual bidding & tendering stages with main contractors & as the main contractor (the business offers both main contract & sub contract services).
This role will also oversee escalated, or more complex tenders / bids, working closely with the build team to maximise all opportunities.
You will play a key role in implementing strong contract management practices, to support key stakeholders whilst also enhancing internal procedures / efficiencies.
You will possess strong financial acumen, particularly in cost capture, control, reporting & document management.
Key responsibilities also include managing cash flow & forecasts in collaboration with the Head of Finance.
You will be an experienced Director with a proven track record in growth strategy within the construction contracting environment. An established network & sector expertise will allow the successful candidate to contribute immediately to the senior leadership team, supporting ongoing growth & future opportunities.
Duties:
*Maximise market opportunity across all construction, civils & steels industries with a detailed strategy to support growth as well as aligning wider business objectives.
*Individual tender & bid delivery.
*Operate at high level on all escalated commercial client queries.
*Implement success KPI’s within the team strategy & report regularly on these to the board.
*Coordinate / manage the commercial team & processes to achieve agreed objectives, ensuring team & individuals successes, in a sustainable, risk-free personnel structure.
Attributes:
*Extensive commercial management / directorship experience in civil engineering, construction or associated consultancy experience with a demonstrable track record
*Strong financial & commercial acumen
*Highly adept in contract management
*Experience in implementing contract management systems
*Skilled in the production of reports, payment applications, payment certificates, financial reports and close out reports
*Experience in drafting contractual correspondence, contract drafting and facilitating collaborative outcomes; Desirable
*Experience in steels, civil engineering or similar industries (ideal)
*Degree qualification desirable
*Professional Construction Industry Qualifications; RICS, ICES, MCIOB or equivalent
*Extensive knowledge of ICC/NEC suite of contracts.
*JCT contracts experience is desirable.
This role is commutable from: Leicester, Loughborough, Derby, Nottingham, Stamford, Lincoln, Newark, Coventry, Tamworth, Grantham, Bourne, Sleaford & other places close to these catchment areas.
