Job Advertisement: Matrimonial Legal Assistant - Family Law Team
Join Our Dynamic and Progressive Law Firm!
At Scott Bailey, every team member plays an important role in our success, and we value the unique contributions each person brings to our team. Whether supporting our legal work or helping to keep our office environment welcoming and positive, it’s the enthusiasm and dedication of our team that make us stand out.
Rooted in the beautiful New Forest and Lymington area, our exceptional service has made a lasting impact across Hampshire and beyond. What makes us different is our approach to clients - we don’t just assist them; we build lasting relationships, treating every client as a valued partner.
Role Overview
The Family Law Team provides important and often life-changing support to clients facing complex family issues such as divorce, child arrangements and financial settlements. As a Matrimonial Legal Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting our Family Law team by managing administrative tasks, liaising with clients, and assisting with case preparation.
Are you an experienced Legal Assistant with at least 2 years of experience, ideally within a Family Law Department? If so, we want to hear from you!
In this role, you’ll:
Client Support:
- Be the friendly first point of contact for our clients, both in person and via phone/email, setting the tone for their experience with us.
- Schedule and coordinate consultations and appointments, ensuring clients feel cared for and prioritised.
Case Management:
- Play a key role in the preparation and organisation of case files, ensuring every detail is in place for our legal team.
- Liaise with courts and opposing counsel, acting as the linchpin that keeps cases moving smoothly.
Administrative Duties:
- Keep our partners organised by managing their calendars and ensuring all case deadlines are met with timely follow-ups.
- Prepare and send correspondence, ensuring all communications are professional and prompt.
Document Preparation:
- Assist in the preparation of legal documents, court forms, and filings with meticulous attention to detail, contributing to the success of our clients’ cases.
Your attention to detail will ensure our documents are always accurate. You’ll be responsible for verifying lots of information, so precision is key. You’ll communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally, and your ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines while keeping files well-organised will be a real strength.
Patience and active listening are important, as you will be understanding and addressing the needs of both clients and Partners. We highly value reliability and a strong work ethic, especially when working under pressure. Your empathy and client care will shine as you offer support and understanding to our clients. You will have an understanding of the high level of confidentiality of family cases and the need to reassure clients of the same.
If this sounds like you, we invite you to join our team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of our clients. Apply now to be part of a supportive and professional environment where your skills and dedication will be highly valued.
Hours of Work
- 35 hours per week, 9.00-5.00pm Monday to Friday.
Salary

Benefits
- 34 days holiday per year (including Bank holiday)
- A bonus day off for your birthday
