Job Description:
This role has a starting salary of £35,730 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week. This is a 12-month fixed term contract opportunity.
We are excited to be hiring a new Emergency Management Officer to join our fantastic Emergency Management and Resilience Team. The team is based in Woodhatch, Reigate with a hybrid approach to work you will be required to come to the office 2 days per week. We find that coming together for those 2 days a week and working collaboratively has helped develop a strong team culture that we are very proud of.

About the Team
The Emergency Management and Resilience Team ensures that Surrey can respond effectively to an incident, by continually improving its service and encouraging a collaborative, partnership approach in all that we do. Our role is to ensure the wellbeing of residents and communities during an emergency and to protect the economic prosperity of the county during periods of disruption.
About the Role
As an Emergency Management Officer, you will support senior officers in the County and District Councils on their response to a crisis. You will work directly with emergency services and local authorities, with minimal supervision, so that Surrey responds to a major emergency effectively. An Emergency Management Officer may also be supporting council services business continuity arrangements so that the council can continue to provide its key services in an incident.
On occasions the Emergency Management Team must respond immediately during and outside of working hours to the demands of a crisis. As a result, we have an on-call rota that means that for 1 week out of every 6 you will need to be able to respond to emergencies outside working hours and be able to get around the county.
Shortlisting Criteria

*Direct experience of working with emergency services and local authorities
*A good understanding of the aims and objectives of emergency planning, business continuity and the Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles
*A relevant degree or appropriate experience
*The ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision
*Have a good understanding of the aims and objectives of emergency planning
*Have an understanding of business continuity
*Being a collaborative worker, looking for ways to continuously improve with an ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders
