Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced English teacher with a passion for learning and a commitment to transforming students’ lives. In this role, you will deliver high-quality lessons across KS3 and KS4, support teaching improvements, and work collaboratively to develop a dynamic English curriculum. This position is ideal for someone dedicated to closing learning gaps, inspiring students, and encouraging a love for literature and language.
Key Responsibilities:
*Develop and Inspire: Create a dynamic English curriculum that engages KS3 and KS4 students. Bring creativity and expertise to teaching GCSE content, especially for those who may be reluctant learners, and inspire a genuine passion for learning.
*High-Quality Teaching and Assessment: Demonstrate the highest standards in teaching, learning, and assessment, planning interactive, exciting lessons that captivate all students, including those with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
*Tackle Disadvantage: Show a commitment to addressing disadvantage and enhancing each student’s wellbeing and life chances.
*Broader Curriculum Development: Collaborate to develop and deliver a curriculum that connects to the PSHE curriculum, British values, SMSC, and the world of work where relevant.
*Collaborative Resource Development: Work closely with colleagues to produce quality learning resources and plan effective learning activities.
*Data-Informed Practice: Use data to inform classroom practice and planning, ensuring tailored support for each student.
*Feedback and Progress Monitoring: Assess student work, providing regular and constructive feedback in line with the school’s marking and feedback policy, and inspire, motivate, and challenge students to reach their full potential.
*Direct Classroom Support: Lead and direct classroom staff to maximise their impact on learning outcomes, setting high expectations and maintaining a safe, positive environment.
*Behaviour Management: Maintain high standards of behaviour to create a positive learning atmosphere.
*Safeguarding and Wellbeing: Act promptly on any child protection concerns, implementing the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures, including ’Keeping Children Safe in Education,’ and model leadership, resilience, and empathy.
*Student Mentorship: Coach and mentor a group of students, supporting them through their academic journey and personal development.
*Community and Parental Engagement: Engage with parents, carers, local schools, and external agencies to ensure that each student’s needs are well-supported.
*Professional Contributions: Embrace wider professional responsibilities, actively supporting the school’s values and ethos, and contributing to the development and implementation of policies, practices, and procedures.
*School Vision and Strategic Support: Work closely with the headteacher, staff, parents/carers, and students to realise the school’s strategic vision and contribute towards its ambitious plans.
