Customs Coordinator
Preston Brook, Runcorn
£28,000 - £29,000 (flexible depending on experience)
Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 17:00  
A thrilling opportunity for a new position has emerged with a prominent forwarder, seeking a seasoned Customs Coordinator. This role is focused on managing customs data entry to guarantee that all clearance procedures are executed compliantly and efficiently.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in customs, encompassing either import or export operations, ideally with experience in alcohol clearances.
The Candidate;
*Experience within customs declarations and clearances
*Previous experience of import or export clearances
*Experience of dealing with customers directly either within road transport or shipping
*Experience of using customs software, including Destin8 and Descartes  
*’Attention to detail’ is very important to ensure the business is compliant and passes HMRC audits, including risk identification and mitigation.
*Previous experience within a freight forwarding, logistics or customs clearance position
*A background within Customs, Shipping Logistics Distribution
*HMRC - Customs declarations experience, Imports and exports
*Strong communication skills, verbal and written. Interfacing between the management team, HMRC, customs, suppliers and end Customers
*Good organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise workloads.
*Strong customer service skills
*Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
*Competent decision making
Duties and Responsibilities;
*Utilizes customs software packages to submit declarations, including Destin8 and Descartes.
*Develops and maintains an in-depth understanding of customs entry declarations for both import and export, with a solid knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
*Prepares, handles, and submits transit documentation such as T2L, EUR1, ATR, and CMR.
*Liaises with government bodies such as HMRC.
*Possesses a strong understanding of applying VAT and excise duties.
*Has experience working with currencies and rates of exchange.
*Demonstrates a good understanding of import and export quotas.
*Works efficiently under pressure and meets strict deadlines.
*Utilizes company resources effectively.
*Plans, delivers, and records all tasks using internal systems as directed.
*Communicates effectively and promptly with colleagues, customers, and suppliers
