Lead Driver

We’re seeking a responsible and experienced Lead Driver to join our team. This role involves not only driving but also supporting the team with operational oversight to ensure efficient and timely deliveries. You’ll be a key point of contact for both clients and the driving team, helping maintain high standards of service and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
* Client Interaction: Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, ensuring deliveries meet their expectations and resolving any on-the-road issues.
* Scheduling Assistance: Support the Transport Manager in organizing daily schedules, helping to maximize route efficiency and minimize delays.
* Invoicing Support: Accurately document delivery charges and assist in preparing invoices as needed.
* Team Leadership: Lead by example, supporting and motivating fellow drivers. Step in to drive as required to meet operational needs.
* Route Efficiency: Continuously evaluate and suggest improvements to routes, enhancing both cost-effectiveness and time efficiency.
* Delivery and Stock Management: Ensure accurate handling of goods during loading/unloading and confirm correct stock counts at each delivery.
* Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe and clean vehicle at all times, adhering to company standards and legal regulations.
Requirements:
* Valid Driving License: Minimum 7 years of driving experience, capable of operating larger vehicles like Luton vans.
* Organizational Skills: Strong time management skills and an eye for detail.
* Communication Skills: Clear and courteous communication with clients, team members, and dispatch.
* Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to remain calm and find solutions when unexpected situations arise on the road.
* Positive Attitude: Enthusiastic and reliable, with a dedication to excellent service.
Preferred Qualities:
* Friendly and Personable: Easily builds rapport with clients and team members.
* Adaptable: Comfortable in a dynamic work environment with changing routes and schedules.
