Job Description:
Cafcass are recruiting for the role of Family Court Adviser (Social Worker) for their Public and Private Law team in Greater London.
They trust and empower colleagues to work in a hybrid way, providing the resources, equipment, and support, so that individually and collectively, we can be the voice of children and young people when the family court makes critical decisions about their futures.
While they are proud that Ofsted judged us to be ’outstanding’ when they inspected us in early 2024, they haven’t come this far only to come this far. This outcome has energised them to just keep getting better at what we do for children and families.
Whilst this role is part of a team based from our office in central London, their teams work flexibly and remotely, your proximity to the office doesn’t always have to be a critical consideration.
Your role here would be to provide advanced social work-level services to children, families and courts by assessing and analysing court applications for any child protection and serious welfare issues affecting a child or young person.
Also to influence those with parental responsibility to be more child-focused when needed and to advise the courts about how a childs life can be improved, supporting judicial case management in the process.
To achieve this you will need to keep the child at the centre of your work through high quality direct work with children and their families.
You will also need to be a skilled negotiator, working persuasively with family members and professionals on behalf of children.
You will need to keep the child’s timescale in the context of the child’s journey through childhood and, where applicable, the care system, at the centre of everything you do and you must be prepared to advocate in the best interests of the child, ensuring their voice is not lost in the court arena.
You will be required to be a resilient, reflective and accountable practitioner, possessing good IT and organisational skills, so that you can maintain a high throughput of outstanding casework.
Suitable candidates must have a degree in social work and be on the SWE register.
The salary for the FCA role is £41,550 - £46,332 (this is not a range, people join on either the lower or higher value) although as this is London, there is also London weighting of £4,885 (pro-rata) so in effect the salary becomes £46,435 - £51,217.
They are a diverse, inclusive organisation that is a safe space for colleagues with shared aspects of identity and lived experience, which helps ensure we provide a service which promotes the diversity and uniqueness of children and families from all backgrounds. They especially welcome applications from people from diverse backgrounds as we strive to ensure our workforce reflects the diversity of the children and families we work with.
They provide extensive wellbeing support for colleagues, as well as excellent benefits, all of which we hope encourages you to join us.
