About the Role
As the Infrastructure Engineer, your responsibilities include designing, implementing, and managing IT infrastructure across production and development environments, with a focus on both on-premises and cloud-based systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability. Your duties encompass managing network infrastructure, overseeing Linux-based on-premises servers, and supporting security measures across all systems. In collaboration with the CISO, you’ll help supervise infrastructure projects, troubleshoot issues, and support daily operations. The ideal candidate has practical experience in network administration, Linux server management, and a basic understanding of cybersecurity principles.
Technical Skills
*Networking: Proficient in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and VLAN configurations, with experience in network security, firewall management, and troubleshooting.
*Cloud Infrastructure: Knowledgeable in cloud environments, including cloud security, permissions, and resource utilization.
*Linux Server Administration: Extensive hands-on experience with Linux (Ubuntu) for server management, automation, and troubleshooting.
*Virtualization: Experienced with virtualization technologies such as VMware, KVM, and Proxmox (current virtualization stack) in on-premises environments.
*Scripting and Automation: Skilled in scripting languages like Bash and Python for task automation and improving process efficiency.
*Security: Familiar with security protocols, vulnerability management, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, or SolarWinds).
*Threat Hunting: Some exposure to threat hunting using Wazuh and firewall analyzers (training available if needed).
Soft Skills
*Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
*Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to solving infrastructure issues.
*Teamwork: Collaborative approach with strong interpersonal skills to work effectively across teams.
*Time Management: Skilled at prioritising tasks and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
*Attention to Detail: High accuracy in configuration and documentation, especially in network and server setups.
