Job Description:
Job Title: Housing Options Officer
Location: Bolton
Contract Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 7 weeks
Working Pattern: Full Time
Salary: £15.24 per hour
Responsibilities:
*Conduct homeless presentations and assessments under the Housing Act 1996 (as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017)
*Provide comprehensive casework support from initial application, assessment, decision-making, to the provision of prevention and relief assistance
*Assist vulnerable customers in accessing and engaging with services, offering advice and support on all available options
*Advocate and negotiate on behalf of customers with external agencies to prevent and relieve homelessness and address other household needs
*Conduct home visits for customers to assist with homelessness prevention
*Build positive relationships through effective communication and networking, promoting customers’ ownership in addressing their housing and other needs
*Demonstrate a strong understanding of housing need, homelessness issues, and relevant legal context, ensuring best practise in casework support
*Show initiative in organising, planning, prioritising, and making appropriate decisions to secure positive outcomes with complex casework
Essential Requirements:
*Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, and guidance related to housing and homelessness
*Understanding of housing need, homelessness issues, and the ability to interpret and apply laws and policies effectively
*Excellent communication skills to engage with individuals and groups at all levels, both verbally and in writing
*Strong customer contact, interviewing, and negotiation skills to guide customers toward suitable solutions
*Effective organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, using initiative
*Ability to network and collaborate with various agencies, advocating on behalf of customers and influencing decision-making
*Practical awareness of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
*Front-line experience in a closely related service area
*Willingness to undertake appropriate training and development to meet job requirements
*Enhanced DBS and registered on the update service
*Full, current, and valid driving licence with access to a vehicle and adequate insurance cover
