Job Description:
Water Resources Scientist - Junior to Principal opportunities - £35-70k basic DoE plus healthy benefits package.
Location: Oxfordshire, UK
Do you have a degree and postgraduate qualification (minimum MSc) in a relevant field?
Have you worked in water resource management within the UK water industry or with UK water regulators?
Are you experienced in using hydrological, groundwater, and water resource modeling tools (e.g., Modflow, Pywr, Aquator)?
Are you familiar with code development using R, Python, or similar languages?
If so our client are looking to hire water resource scientists at varying seniority levels. They are an industry leader in designing resilient and sustainable solutions across natural and built environments, with a focus on water. Their innovative team is dedicated to advancing understanding of the dynamic impact of water on communities and environments.
What You Need to Have
A relevant degree and postgraduate qualification (minimum MSc)
Prior experience in UK water resource management and regulatory environments
Proficiency in hydrological, groundwater, and water resource modeling tools (e.g., Modflow, Pywr, Aquator)
Experience with code development using R, Python, or similar
Some knowledge of demand forecasting, leakage, behavioral strategies, and best-value planning
For more senior positions, additional requirements include:
*A strong understanding of the UK water industry’s regulatory landscape and emerging government priorities
*Proven business development and project delivery track record
*Forward-thinking vision for industry needs and tool development

Role Duties and Responsibilities
As a member of our clients Floods and Water Group, you will:
*Contribute specialist expertise in hydrology, hydrogeology, and water resources planning to tackle complex global water challenges
*Collaborate on projects focused on demand forecasting, drought risk, climate change, and international water resource management
*Partner with clients, researchers, and academic institutions to deliver high-impact water projects in the UK, Ireland, and the Caribbean
*Potentially lead on projects or high-profile initiatives, driving innovative solutions for sustainable water management
