Location:  SW London 
Type: Full time, 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 0800 – 1630). Flexibility is required to cover gaps and pre-arranged weekend and out of hours essential works
Contract: Permanent

We’re looking for a Chief Engineer to join our Estates team. This role is vital in ensuring a first-class building maintenance service within the hospital and satellite sites, covering reactive, project, and scheduled maintenance work.

What you’ll do:
*Manage and ensure a safe working environment is maintained at all times and adhere to company policies and procedures.
*Oversee the day-to-day operation of the department, ensuring all areas are covered in times of absence, annual leave, sickness, etc., delegating tasks where necessary.
*Manage and coordinate PPM services from external providers, keeping the relevant departments informed and ensuring that disruption to patients and the business is minimized.
*Manage and carry out PPMs and daily checks of allocated plant areas, ensuring the areas are well-maintained and tidy at all times.
*Work on and manage planned preventive maintenance schedules, in line with departmental goals and objectives, maintaining accurate records and documentation at all times while liaising with your line manager.
*Respond to and complete incoming works logged on the internal computerized maintenance management system, prioritizing your workload, and responding quickly to emergencies. Assess jobs and devise a plan of action to complete them.
*Place call-outs with external service providers.
*Manage departmental stock control - identify and source materials, raising and placing purchase orders on the internal requisition system.
What you’ll bring:
*Qualified in a relevant discipline, e.g., City & Guilds/NVQ in Electrical, Plumbing, or M&E building services.
*Extensive engineering experience within a hospital or similar organization is essential.
*Management experience is desirable.
*Good general knowledge and understanding of all disciplines within building services.
*Knowledge of Health and Safety, COSHH, Lifting and Handling, Fire regulations, and Water Management.
*Supervisory, leadership, and team management experience.
*Excellent communication skills
