Job Description:
Your new company
This school has an excellent reputation in the Cheshire area, known as an establishment with high standards, high expectations and focused on delivering the highest quality of education to pupils. Based in the Sandbach area of Crewe, the school is on a historic site with 20 buildings, and it is therefore geographically a large site, as well as having large pupil numbers with around 1600 on roll, and therefore making this an exciting and challenging role for the successful candidate. In a well-connected area, the school is easily commutable via the M6 and major A roads and is known for its beautiful setting and the excellent resources available.
Your new role
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Resources, the successful IT Manager will lead the IT strategy, ensuring an excellent strategy and provision is in place to ensure the highest quality of teaching and learning is delivered across the school, working collaboratively with the school leaders. As IT Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the IT network and infrastructure is working efficiently and effectively, which will therefore involve the modernising of systems and technologies, ensuring all are fit for purpose and therefore enhancing teaching and learning. A key part of this role will be to liaise with the school leaders as you work to transform the IT network and infrastructure, transitioning services over to the cloud, working with the wider IT team. In terms of the wider IT team, this role will involve working with a Senior IT Technician and also an IT apprentice, ensuring they are supporting pupils and staff with service requests, working closely with them to ensure the upskilling of their abilities and developing their knowledge. From a daily infrastructure perspective, this will involve working with desktops and laptops, AV equipment, printers, supporting with bespoke educational systems such as MIS and catering systems, as well as working daily on Microsoft 365.
What you’ll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, you will be an established IT or Network Manager in the education sector looking to further progress your career by taking on a challenging new role which will involve delivering on new projects and taking full accountability for the schools’ IT budget and infrastructure. This role could also suit an established IT Lead or Technical Specialist looking for their first leadership role where they can further develop their skills. It is essential that the successful candidate, as a minimum, has some mentoring experience, or ideally, leadership experience. Working in the education sector would be beneficial however, this isn’t essential, but a passion for this sector is required.
What you’ll get in return
In return, you will be paid a competitive salary of up to £40,000 with regular pay reviews, as well as receiving education sector benefits such as a local government pension scheme, 25 days holiday rising to 30 (plus bank), access to staff wellbeing offering and various others. In addition, you will also experience further development and growth as you become an integral part of the leadership team in school, overall contributing to the success of the school.
