Science Technician - Immediate Start
Location: Mainstream Secondary School, Lewisham
Position: Full-Time, Long-Term
Salary: Dependent on Experience
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Technician to join our vibrant secondary school in Lewisham. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the next generation of scientists and to work in a dynamic educational environment.
Responsibilities:
*Prepare and set up equipment, materials, and chemicals for science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
*Support science teachers in practical demonstrations and experiments, ensuring lessons run smoothly
*Maintain and organise laboratory equipment and ensure a safe and clean environment for students and staff
*Monitor stock levels, place orders, and manage supplies of chemicals and equipment
*Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on lab equipment
*Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with all school and legal safety standards
*Assist with administrative tasks related to the science department as required
Requirements:
*Strong interest in science subjects, with a desire to support secondary education
*Previous experience as a science technician or in a laboratory setting is preferred but not required-enthusiastic candidates willing to learn on the job are encouraged to apply
*Excellent organisational skills, with a meticulous approach to handling scientific materials and safety protocols
*Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and follow instructions precisely
*DBS on the Update Service is essential
