Group Health, Safety and Environment Officer
Location: South Darenth
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum

Role Purpose
In this key role, you’ll deliver health and safety expertise to ensure a safe workplace for all employees, in compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines, including ISO 45001 standards. You’ll also lead environmental initiatives to reduce the company’s carbon footprint, ensuring adherence to ISO 14001 and other environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
*Health & Safety Oversight: Serve as the primary expert on health, safety, and environmental regulations, advising on compliance and implementing preventative measures across all sites.
*Site Safety Audits: Conduct regular inspections, safety tours, and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
*Incident Management: Lead safety investigations, monitor KPIs, and manage incident reporting to drive continuous improvement.
*Employee Training: Conduct safety inductions, oversee training requirements, and engage staff in programs to promote safe practices.
*Environmental Compliance: Drive environmentally responsible practices and compliance, supporting sustainability goals and adherence to ISO 14001 and ISO 50001.
*Policy Development: Formulate and review health and safety policies and procedures to align with industry standards.
*Emergency Preparedness: Ensure all safety equipment is maintained, oversee fire safety protocols, and manage first aid and fire marshal teams.
Skills & Experience Required
*Health & Safety Expertise: Proven experience in a similar role, backed by a recognised qualification (NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent).
*Environmental Knowledge: IEMA Certificate in environmental management (desirable) and knowledge of ISO 14001 standards.
*Risk Management: Proficient in conducting risk assessments, familiar with PUWER regulations, and experienced in accident investigations.
*Continuous Improvement: Experience with improvement processes like 5S or Kaizen is a plus.
*IT Skills: Confident in Microsoft Office and safety software systems.
*Communication & Decision-Making: Strong interpersonal skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
*Flexibility & Adaptability: Willingness to work beyond standard hours when needed, and flexibility for occasional international travel (passport required).
*Language Skills: Proficiency in an additional European language (German, Italian, Dutch, French, Polish) is advantageous.
