Job Description:
General Manager
*Annual Salary: £50,000 - £55,000
*Location: Bishops Stortford
*Job Type: Full-time (40 hours per week, including weekends and evenings)
Our Non for Profit Client are seeking a General Manager to lead, direct, and manage the operational and financial performance of the College. This role involves maximising profitability through revenue generation and productivity while maintaining high standards. The General Manager will also manage approved spend, budgeted spend, and capital investment in the property and grounds as appropriate.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Develop and implement the annual college operating budget in line with strategic plans; monitor and action performance improvements to ensure optimum financial results.
*Maximise total revenue performance versus the annual operating budget through coordinated management, sales, and marketing activities.
*Enhance revenue generation through effective use of social media, website marketing, and public relations.
*Ensure the delivery of high-quality service that meets hospitality industry expectations and company standards.
*Support the College tutors in delivering college courses and ensure focused delivery of minimum operating standards with performance improvement where needed.
*Develop, implement, and direct the organisational structure within the college to achieve results, including HR management, recruitment, and succession planning.
*Maintain compliance with all health, hygiene, and fire life safety policies, ensuring that all security incidents and accidents are logged and addressed promptly.
*Work closely with the Collegiate Committee/Finance Team to manage capital expenditure and development plans.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proven experience in a general management role, preferably within an educational or hospitality setting.
*Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a high-performing team.
*Excellent financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
*Proficient in using IT systems to drive revenue and improve operational efficiency.
*Knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to maintain compliance with legal standards.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of maintaining effective relationships with all levels of staff and management.
