Job Description:
If you’re interested in making a difference to people’s lives, HM Treasury can offer you an exciting opportunity to influence decision making that affects the whole of the UK!
About the Team
The Infrastructure, Labour Markets and Migration Team sits within HM Treasury’s Enterprise and Growth Unit, which promotes sustainable economic growth and higher efficiency for the UK.
Our friendly team set the government’s overarching strategy for infrastructure by setting spending priorities, supporting more investment, and facilitating improved delivery. We also develop key growth-focused policy areas including the government’s employment and migration policy.
The team encourages a friendly, supportive and collaborative culture, with a strong commitment to wellbeing and professional development.
About the Job
In this role, you will play a central role developing and implementing the UK government’s infrastructure strategy. This is a unique opportunity at the heart of government to shape the future of the UK’s infrastructure, influencing major projects and investments that will impact the country for decades to come.
Key accountabilities
*Support the development of the government’s ten-year infrastructure strategy – advising ministers on the overall shape and priorities in the strategy, and working closely with the National Infrastructure Commission and Infrastructure and Projects Authority.
*Project management – supervise the credible planning, execution, and delivery of the infrastructure strategy. Regularly report on progress to senior leadership, the Growth Delivery Unit, and the Chancellor.
*Collaborator Engagement – engage with senior officials, ministers, industry leaders, and external experts to collect input, build consensus, and ensure the strategy reflects a wide range of perspectives.
*Wider infrastructure strategy – work collaboratively across the team to consider the links to other infrastructure priorities and institutions, such as creation of the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority, and reforms to support investment and improve delivery.
*Work flexibility across the Infrastructure Strategy branch, supporting and leading on broader elements of the branch’s work as the need arises. In addition, you will have the opportunity to contribute to cross-HM Treasury activities, helping build a more positive, collaborative and inclusive working environment.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be able to work with others on competing objectives in delivering organisational priorities. You will be good at building positive relationships and understanding a variety of perspectives, as well as skilfully managing simultaneous pieces of work to deliver on both long- and short-term goals.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!
