Scope:

Reporting into the Vice President, International Tax, you will be involved in a range of interesting responsibilities supporting the tax policies and objectives of Houlihan Lokey (’HL’) across European jurisdictions (including, but not limited to, the UK, France, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, Israel, Australia, Belgium and Dubai).

The Tax team is responsible for providing tax compliance, provision, reporting and planning services to the firm, including but not limited to, corporate tax, partnership tax, international tax for international project workers and assignees, and VAT compliance.

The role is primarily purposed to manage the project cycles of compliance, provisioning and reporting for a variety of international jurisdictions, and managing tax authority audits and advisory support to cross-functional teams. Given the scale of this business, there is ample room for involvement in interesting projects and skillset diversification by getting involved in new areas.

You will support the Vice President, International Tax, who has responsibility for the local / regional tax compliance, provisions and reporting, including transfer pricing, planning and special projects. You will be part of new project initiatives, as well as analysis of potential cross border transactions and tax residency issues. You will support the monitoring of corporate tax-related legislative / regulatory developments and advise on tax risks. Additionally, you will work closely with the global tax team to ensure all data for the countries that you support is incorporated into the global provision model for public reporting in the US.

Responsibilities:

This role will include a healthy mix of compliance, provisions and reporting, tax projects and advisory, process improvement and business partnering from a corporate tax perspective. *Liaising with UK and overseas advisors across EMEA, and Finance team colleagues to ensure timely international tax compliance
*Managing broad tax matters; including review of corporate tax compliance computations and corporate tax returns, new and existing tax projects, and monitoring the impact of new tax legislation
*Reviewing corporation tax payment on account instalment calculations
*Preparation of current and deferred tax provisions
*Supporting the UK and European input in to the US and global consolidation tax provision process
*Managing corporate tax compliance with local transfer pricing requirements, as well as global documentation for these countries (to be OECD BEPS compliant)
*Coordinating responses to ad hoc queries from HL’s lines of business
*Supporting wider Tax and Finance team colleagues with international withholding tax management and recovery
*Supporting wider Tax and Finance team colleagues with international projects and initiatives
*Maintaining relationships with international tax authorities, and ensuring timely and complete responses in relation to any tax authority audits and / or queries
*Supporting review of tax risks, controls and implementation of process improvements, in order to be SOX compliant
Basic Qualifications: *ACA/ACCA/CTA qualification
*6+ years of experience in corporate tax
*Accustomed to operating at Manager level in a corporate tax compliance-led role
*Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP
*Strong analytical, numeracy and literacy skills
*Experience working with a complex and multinational organisation
*Strong verbal and written communication skills
*An enthusiastic team player
*Self-review, discipline and intellectual curiosity
*High and focused energy levels
*Big 4 or in-house tax experience
*Ability to look at ’bigger picture’ tax issues and how they relate to the organisation in real commercial terms
*Able to plan, prioritise and manage own workload, and work accurately under pressure in order to meet deadlines
*Excellent attention to detail
*Proficient in the use of Excel, Word and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications: *Experience working in a financial services organisation
