In this role, the Data Centre Engineer will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the infrastructure of high-frequency trading data centres and colocations. This position is crucial for ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security for trading operations. The candidate should have a deep understanding of data centre operations, network architecture, and systems engineering, with the ability to respond rapidly to the dynamic demands of a production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
*Install and configure hardware and software.
*Manage remote hardware maintenance activities.
*Conduct new hardware/software testing and tool development.
*Troubleshoot Linux issues and maintain the networking layer.
*Implement monitoring solutions to track system performance, identify potential issues, and optimize server and network configurations.
*Analyze performance metrics to proactively identify bottlenecks and enhance system performance.
*Collaborate closely with the trading technology team to ensure the infrastructure supports the needs of trading teams.
Qualifications:
*4+ years of practical experience working in an enterprise data center, including lifting and installing hardware, racking equipment, and cabling.
*Experience in data center operations with a focus on low-latency, high-frequency trading infrastructure is a plus.
*Experience building PC/server hardware; a thrill for assembling computers from parts is encouraged!
*Proficiency in using Unix shells and working with Linux environments.
*Python scripting experience is a plus.
*Strong organizational and communication skills.
*Ability to balance multiple competing priorities effectively.
*A passion for tinkering with technology in your spare time.
*Comfort using hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, etc.).
*Eagerness to learn and apply new skills quickly.
