Job Description:
Gradan Care have active vacancies accross the North West for Senior TCP’s and TCP’s. We have children’s home’s in both St Helens and Kirkham.
*To assist the registered and deputy managers in the overall running of the home, providing care for children and young people in a residential setting in accordance with legislation and organisational policies and procedures.
*To ensure that the care provided is of the highest quality in an environment which supports and encourages children to reach their full potential.
*Safeguard and promote the welfare of the cared-for children and young people.
*To ensure that the home operates within the National Quality Care Standards and Regulations for Children’s Homes and to develop a service that offers outstanding results for children and young people.
KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
*To ensure the delivery of a high-quality service according to the service’s philosophy, targets, and objectives. To provide children and young people with a safe and stable environment.
*Deliver a child-centred and stimulating environment in which children can receive high-quality physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care and support, acting as a positive adult role model.
*Act as a key worker for agreed children, undertaking to complete key worker files, contributing to reviews and development of individual care programmes
*Participate and support in planning, preparing, and delivering activities for children at home.
*To assist and support children in their education. Suppose they are in care, including attending school meetings, caring for open days, and providing support with homework. Support should be offered if the child is in supported accommodation, education, employment, and training.
*Support children to ensure their health and medical needs are met.
*To promote, evidence and promote the children’s identity, including religion, culture, ethnicity, sexuality and linguistic needs, offering other forms of communication where possible.
*As supportive team members, staff should be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and participate in appropriate staff handovers and team meetings.
*To ensure the direction and motivation of the team by providing good quality and timely support and supervision for team members on a regular and frequent basis.
*To ensure that documentation, record keeping, and communication are maintained and that effective partnership working across the statutory, voluntary, and independent sectors is maintained.
*To be included on the staffing rota undertaking shifts, working evenings, Bank Holidays and weekends and covering out-of-hours on a rota basis
*To assist the Registered Manager in ensuring the health and safety of staff and individuals and equipment and operations within the team by the Health and Safety at Work Act.
*To report to the Registered Manager performance and identify staff areas for improvement and development, supporting the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager.
*To assist the Registered Manager in ensuring the development and regular use of quality assurance processes in the scrutiny of front-line practices and to assist in providing monthly monitoring checks as required under the regulations and national quality care standards.
Additional task for a Senior TCP include:
*To develop and maintain a child-centred and systemic environment in which children and young people can receive high-quality physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care through positive role models. To liaise with other professionals, listening to and involving children and young people, staff, and parents/carers where possible to ensure that the service delivered reflects the needs of the cared-for children/young people.
*Respond to the Registered Manager to ensure appropriate action is taken following internal and external inspections, audits, complaints, and investigations.
*To deliver effective supervision, support and Appraisals.
*To participate in an on-call rota.
*To shift lead including, effective shift planning, shift appraisals and appropriate communicaiton during handover.
*To have a good understanding of The Children Act and Children’s homes regulations and be able to demonstrate how these are being met.
*To be able to appropriately report to the Reg 44 officer and have some input into the Reg 45 6 monthly report.
*To be confident in leading the team through difficult incidents, decision making and to participate in debriefs where neccessary.
