Job Title: English Teacher
Location: Bedford
Start Date: January 2025
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
About the Role We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed English Teacher to join our team on a permanent basis. This role involves delivering engaging English lessons that foster a love for literature, language, and critical thinking. The successful candidate will be passionate about English, able to inspire students across a range of abilities, and committed to creating a supportive and stimulating learning environment.
Key Responsibilities *Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons to students across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially Key Stage 5.
*Inspire students to develop their reading, writing, and analytical skills while encouraging a deep appreciation for literature and language.
*Assess, monitor, and support student progress, providing constructive feedback and targeted interventions when needed.
*Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance the English curriculum, incorporating diverse and contemporary literature.
*Participate in department meetings, parents’ evenings, and school events as required.
*Uphold school policies, including safeguarding, and contribute to the school’s ethos and values.
Essential Requirements *Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
*Proven experience teaching English at the secondary level, ideally up to GCSE level.
*Strong subject knowledge in English literature and language, with familiarity with curriculum standards.
*Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
*Commitment to inspiring and motivating students through creative and innovative teaching.
Desirable Qualities *Experience teaching A-Level English is advantageous.
*Enthusiasm for incorporating diverse voices, themes, and perspectives into the curriculum.
*Interest in professional development and continuous learning in the field of English education.
