Job Description:
SEN Teaching Assistant - SEN Primary/Secondary School (SL4)
Location: Windsor, SL4
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (Primary & Secondary)
Contract Type: Long Term - Full Time Contract
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young children with special educational needs? Our SEN school is looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team.
Role Overview:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting young children with diverse needs, ensuring their safety, emotional well-being, and educational development. You will assist in delivering the curriculum both inside and outside the classroom under the guidance of the Head of Learning or a designated teacher.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting Students:
*Engage with individual children or small groups to support their physical, emotional, educational, and social development.
*Encourage independent learning through structured educational activities and programs.
*Build nurturing relationships with students, promoting self-esteem, independence, and resilience.
*Foster an inclusive environment for all students, regardless of their special needs.
Classroom Support:
*Assist teachers in planning and delivering work programs tailored for young children.
*Maintain an organized and supportive classroom environment.
*Help ensure smooth transitions between different educational activities.
*Monitor and report on student progress and achievements.
Additional Duties:
*Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions.
*Supervise students during non-class times, including before and after school and during lunchtimes.
*Assist on school trips and external activities.
*Uphold the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
Person Specification:
Essential:
*NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification.
*At least one year of experience as a Teaching Assistant or Classroom Assistant.
*Knowledge of educational practices related to child welfare and education.
*Ability to build strong relationships with children and adults and work effectively within a team.
Desirable:
*Additional qualifications in Education.
*Experience with SEMH, ASD, and other special educational needs.
*Proficiency in ICT and a First Aid qualification.
Requirements:
*Adherence to the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
*Completion of an Enhanced Disclosure check upon appointment.
*Flexibility to attend meetings outside normal school hours as needed.
*Physical fitness suitable for engaging in Restrictive Physical Interventions if required.
