Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for experienced Intelligence Officer to work on a 6 contract in Birmingham, West Midlands.

The role will be based with a UK Police Force, and so applicants must undergo national security checks.
The role is primarily office based and hours of work are Monday to Friday.
The rate of pay will be £18.99p per hour PAYE.
Role overview:
The officer is to be the primary intelligence gateway officer for the Regional Prisons Intelligence Unit (RPIU). Receiving, assessing, sanitising and disseminating intelligence between RPIU and stakeholders. The gateway is the single point of entry for requests for service of the RPIU.
To act as initial point of contact for enquires to RPIU, managing responses, signposting and escalating as needed.
To receive, assess, prioritise and quality assure and then appropriately disseminate sensitive intelligence, efficiently and quickly, while protecting its source.
To maintain an overview of incoming intelligence in support of operational objectives, highlighting relevant material or intelligence gaps to the RPIU analyst, intelligence officers and supervision.
Main Responsibilities
*Sanitise intelligence for requirements into a form suitable for dissemination, and request and manage Form of Words if appropriate.
*Quality assuring outgoing intelligence generated.
*Maintain an understanding the operational picture and intelligence requirement;
*Identification of intelligence gaps,
*Coach intelligence requester in the sorts of questions that can be answered
*Influencing and negotiating with stakeholders
*Identify and provide timely information to contribute to the development of the RPIU intelligence
*Manage group email, ensuring effective triage.
*Prioritisation of requests;
*Evaluate information to determine its intelligence potential (e.g. performing a primary assessment of whether intelligence that is provided by a supplier meets the intelligence requirement and quality standards).
*Conduct research, collate results and report findings
*Interrogate appropriate Force and National databases and systems to develop intelligence and conduct open source research in accordance with ACPO guidelines
*Research internal and external systems to parallel source sensitive intelligence
*Contribute to the preparation and presentation of intelligence summaries and subject packages to support investigations
*Evaluation of data for usefulness and trends
Essential Skills:
*Information Handling Skills
*Demonstrate effective communication both written and oral and the ability to exercise initiative within this specialist field.
*Influencing and negotiating with stakeholders
*Demonstrate flexibility and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, prioritising workloads and progressing issues, with minimal supervision.
*Understanding the operational picture and intelligence requirement
*Identification of intelligence gaps
*Use of IT systems which enable data restructuring and presentation
*De-confliction of operations
*Ability to build relationships with other Intelligence Teams or specialist providers of capabilities.
*Possess IT skills, including literacy in common software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point and IT skills gained from investigations or IT security.
*Maintain operational data, including the application of filters, formulas and lookups to spread sheet data
*Must be security vetted to a minimum of SC Enhanced and MV, or be able to achieve such vetting
*IPP (Intelligence Professionalisation Portfolio)
Desirable Skills:
*Background in Intelligence Management
*Highest standards of personal integrity and aptitude to digest complex operational plans, manage highly sensitive information within the Government Security Classification (GSC) guidelines and Security Policy Framework (SPF)
*To work within and promote the organisation’s values through compliance with the code of conduct and code of ethics, promoting equality of opportunity
