Job Description: Network Engineer (NOC)
We are in search of a Network Engineer for our Leidos engineering capability. The successful Engineer will have a full understanding of Network capabilities, with prior experience as a Network Engineer on a Major Programmes. Using your experience in Network Engineering, you will be responsible for working with our customer to execute Network fault rectification on a complex and ever evolving MOD system in support of UK National Security

What you will do
Your primary responsibility will be to support the production network service through availability monitoring, incident resolution and fulfilment of service requests. Your role will also include performing network equipment installations and the application and testing of provided configuration. Occasional travel to other Leidos and customer sites may be required along with out of hours support based on a 1-in-6 rota of 7 day periods. This begins at 19.00 on Friday and ends at 07.30 the following Friday. It is a call-out service with obligation to return to site within 30 minutes. On-call engineers are free to leave site at the end of their working day and await call out. Keeping an eye on the technology landscape is essential too – identification of new and relevant technologies to solve problems and make improvements is part of the job.
What we are looking for
Essential
- DV clearance or the ability to gain and hold
- Qualification: Cisco CCNA or CompTIA N+ certified
- Experience: Working in a Network Operations Centre
-Experience: Documenting processes and procedures
- Behaviour: Willing to learn and train in relevant network technology
- Behaviour: Able to comply with security policy as a network administrator
-Behaviour: Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Behaviour: Able to follow direction from line managers, prioritize tasks ad maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
Desirable
-CCNA Collaboration would be preferable
- Certification: Foundation in service management such as ITIL
- Experience with configuration and administration of high-grade encryption devices
- Experience with DM VPN protocol
- Experience with network monitoring tools such as PRTG
- Experience with coding languages such as Python and their use to enhance network automation and monitoring
- Experience in supporting front end Voice over IP (VoIP) devices
- Experience- Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
-Experience- Experience with configuring and maintenance of Cisco Call Manager.
Location: This role will be based in Herefordshire, with very occasional travel to other sites.
Clearance Required:
This role will require DV clearance.
