Job Description:
Do you have a heart for supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
Are you experienced in helping children who need extra guidance to excel in school?
Would you like to play a key role in empowering young learners to grow in confidence, develop essential skills, and achieve academic success?
We are actively seeking an enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in the Leeds area. This full-time role runs from Monday to Friday, with a daily rate of £90 - £110 and standard working hours of 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Immediate start positions are available, and Team Teach certification is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
*Provide dedicated 1:1 and group support to students with SEMH needs, fostering positive emotional and behavioural growth.
*Implement tailored learning strategies to promote a constructive, supportive classroom environment.
*Assist students in managing behavioural challenges and employ Team Teach techniques for de-escalation (preferred).
*Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to support inclusion and a positive learning experience for all.
*Help students enhance social skills, build confidence, and engage meaningfully in their studies.
*Support students during non-classroom activities to ensure well-being and emotional stability.
*Track and report on student progress, communicating effectively with teachers and staff.
*Encourage full participation in lessons and help foster a love for learning.
*Offer consistent emotional support, fostering strong and trusting student relationships.
Requirements:
*Prior experience with students who have SEMH needs, ideally in a school or educational setting.
*Team Teach certification (preferred; training may be provided for the right candidate).
*Skilled in behaviour management and able to handle challenging behaviours calmly and effectively.
*Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to working with students who may be vulnerable.
*Excellent communication skills, with the ability to connect with students, teachers, and other staff.
*Commitment to promoting an inclusive learning environment and supporting student well-being.
*Passion for helping students achieve their potential academically and emotionally.
*DBS check (preferred, or willingness to undergo one if necessary).
