Job Description:
Quality Inspector
We are looking for an experienced Quality Inspector to join our team.
We are a well-established engineering company creating components for the Aerospace, Defence & Nuclear industries, based in Poole, Dorset.
The Quality Inspector is an integral member of the Quality and Production Teams. The role responsibility will primarily be for ensuring compliance to and control of the designated processes during manufacture and verifying the quality of all manufactured product.
The Quality Inspector will be responsible for performing dimensional inspection on detail parts either for in-process verification or procured product. Additionally, this role will include active monitoring of established systems and processes to demonstrate compliance to documented requirements. The Inspector will be responsible for maintenance and approval of Works Orders.
Key Responsibilities:
*Ensure that activities within the project are conducted in accordance with approved Company practice, Company certification and approvals, Regulatory requirements, Quality Plans and contractual obligations.
*Monitor and verify processes and product by inspection.
*Support and assist with verification of in-process or procured product to ensure compliance of product and associated documentation.
*Operation and programming of a Co-ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to facilitate dimensional measurement of product and parts, fixed & portable.
*Must have experience in using a mobile CMM
*Support First Article Inspection activities as required by the business or contract.
*Ensuring complete and accurate documentation packs providing records of verification and traceability.
*Assist with integration of changes resulting from new or amended Manufacturing or Quality Standards.
*Contribute towards the creation of new processes, procedures and documents and participate in related document reviews.
*Participate in customer facing meetings and audits.
*Support internal, customer and supplier audit schedules required to establish compliance with controlling procedures, Quality Plans and applicable customer requirements.
*Manage Non-Conformance, Concession and Production Permit approval activities, including the maintenance of detailed and accurate records, and ensure timely closure of issues.
*Participate in or facilitate related continuous improvement activities, including Root Cause Analysis activities to continually drive process and performance improvement.
*Perform other reasonable duties as may be required of the role from time to time in support of business needs.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
*Previous experience in a Quality Inspection position will be essential.
*Familiarity with BS EN ISO 9001, AS9100 or other manufacturing industry related Quality standards.
*Sound knowledge of Quality management principles and techniques within an Engineering manufacturing environment, including a working knowledge of non-conformance management principles and problem-solving techniques.
*Ability to read and understand mechanical engineering drawings, including an understanding of CAD based models, tolerances, geometric tolerances and weld symbols.
*Prior experience and good understanding of metrology techniques required for the inspection of precision mechanical components.
*Prior experience of precision mechanical manufacture, and mechanical manufacturing techniques including machining and welding would be an advantage.
*An understanding of First Article Inspection requirements, with knowledge of AS9102 Aerospace First Article Inspection Requirement preferred.
*Experience of using MRP / ERP systems preferred.
*May be necessary to work extended hours from time to time.
Job type - Full-time
*£15.00 to £20.00 per hour, dependant on knowledge & experience
*Regular overtime. All overtime is paid at time + half
*7:30am - 4:30pm Monday - Thursday, 7:30am - 12:30pm Friday
*25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
