Join the Calor Gas Team: Seeking an Experienced Vehicle Maintenance Technician in Coryton, Essex!
Are you a proactive and skilled Vehicle Maintenance Technician? Calor Gas is looking for someone just like you to join our on-site workshop in Coryton, Essex. In this role, you’ll take charge of maintaining, repairing, and modifying our fleet of vehicles and trailers, while also providing essential technical support, from fault analysis to resolution.
We’re seeking a candidate who can deliver high-quality technical work, all while adhering to strict Health & Safety standards when handling equipment, machines, and tools. Your initiative and attention to detail, coupled with a strong understanding of vehicles, trailers, and workshop equipment, will be key to your success. Additionally, your organizational skills will be essential in maintaining clear documentation, keeping accurate records, and meeting important deadlines.
You will be responsible for carrying out general maintenance and repair work on the company’s fleet of vehicles and trailers, ensuring that all vehicles are in safe working order. Your role requires you to execute repairs to the highest standards while conducting in-depth engineering work and diagnostics. You should be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a close-knit team. It’s crucial that all repairs are performed in accordance with current Health and Safety legislation and company policies. Additionally, you will need to safely operate all relevant equipment, machines, and tools, and complete all associated documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate should hold education to City & Guilds standard in Mechanical Engineering or possess an equivalent engineering discipline. Previous experience as an HGV Mechanic in a similar role is essential. While it is preferable to hold an HGV C+E licence (Class 1) and a current ADR, these are not mandatory. You should demonstrate a strong working knowledge of vehicles, trailers, workshop plant, and equipment, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic problems. The role requires someone who can multitask, meet key deadlines, and exhibit rigorous fault-finding skills. You should be capable of working independently as well as part of a team, showcasing strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Here’s what we have to Offer
We’re excited to offer a range of fantastic benefits to our team! You’ll start with 25 days of annual leave, which increases with your time with us, plus all the usual statutory bank holidays. Enjoy single private medical insurance, and if you’d like to add family coverage, you can do so at a discounted rate.
Our pension plan is designed to support you, with an initial 4.5% contribution from us, increasing to 7.5% after two years. From day one, you’ll also have life assurance coverage of four times your salary. After two years, you’ll benefit from income protection covering 50% of your salary.
Take advantage of our market-leading discount scheme with major retailers and save on holidays with our purchase scheme. We also offer discounted gas and appliances to make life a little easier.
