Job Description:
This role is ideal for someone who is qualified and has a strong background in teaching young students with learning disabilities and complex needs. The successful candidate will be dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment, particularly in Pathway 2 classes. Key Responsibilities:
*Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for Key Stage 1 students with learning disabilities and complex needs.
*Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of young students, with a focus on SEN (Special Educational Needs) and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) support.
*Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and parents to support student development.
*Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
*Provide a safe and nurturing classroom environment that promotes student engagement and learning.
*Utilise assistive technology and other resources to enhance learning experiences.
*Conduct regular assessments and maintain accurate records of student performance.
*Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
Requirements:
*Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
*Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
*Minimum of 2 years of experience working with Key Stage 1 students with learning disabilities and complex needs.
*Strong understanding of various learning disabilities and effective teaching strategies.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
*Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young students with special needs.
*Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to special education.
*Understanding that behaviour is communication and being trauma-informed.
Preferred Qualifications:
*Experience with assistive technology and adaptive learning tools.
*Training in behaviour management and intervention strategies.
*Experience in Pathway 2 classes.
