In the search for a permanent Financial Controller, a UK government department is partnering with Robertson Bell to fill this crucial Financial Controller role.
The Financial Controller will lead the financial control function, ensuring timely and accurate payments to suppliers, staff, and witnesses, while also identifying and implementing improvements to processes and services.
Key responsibilities:
*Lead the financial control team, ensuring prompt and accurate payments to suppliers, staff, and witnesses.
*Identify and deliver improvements within the financial control team’s work.
*Oversee the preparation of annual accounts, adhering to agreed timelines and standards, and serve as the main contact for the subsequent audit by the NAO.
*Manage monthly returns to meet requirements, including spending controls and transparency reports.
*Ensure all key account reconciliations are timely and current.
*Ensure full VAT compliance and manage cash flow requirements, including forecasting future spending.
*Contribute to department-wide initiatives, such as policy development, supporting the continuous improvement of the organisation.
This position will be based in central London and will require two days a week in the office. This Financial Controller will benefit from flexible working and an employer pension contribution of over £20%.
The ideal candidate will:
*Be a qualified Accountant (CCAB) with proven experience in delivering annual accounts.
*Have a strong finance background with evidence of driving improvements in financial management.
*Possess excellent people management skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.
*Have exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
