Job Description:
The Role
A top UK law firm is seeking a Senior or Principal Associate to join its market-leading Asset-Based Lending practice. Recently recognized by Legal 500 as Band 2 nationally, with the regional team ranked in Band 1, the practice continues to excel in managing a broad spectrum of lender clients and executing some of the largest and most complex transactions in the market.
This role offers the opportunity to shape the London team’s profile within the market, supported by the firm’s national banking team structure, which provides robust support and career development pathways. The team’s close collaboration with the firm’s litigation and restructuring practices creates a comprehensive asset-based lending service, further enhanced by work with the corporate practice to position asset-based lending as a preferred financing option for corporate acquisitions and refinancing.
The successful candidate will take on a diverse range of responsibilities across the full transaction lifecycle. This includes drafting and negotiating facility agreements and security documents (in both LMA and non-LMA formats), handling intercreditor arrangements, developing precedent documentation, working with both borrowers and lenders on back-to-back arrangements, and managing live lending transactions. Additionally, the role involves supervising junior team members and supporting portfolio work with lenders on waivers, resets, and restatements.
With a consistent volume of transactions, this position offers an excellent platform for taking on significant responsibility in matter management and provides ample opportunities to participate in client development initiatives.
