**About the role**
Reporting to the Lead Manufacturing Manager of the Royal Mail Gloucester Manufacturing & Engineering Centre, you will:
- Be responsible for leading a team of up to 40 Assembly workers and engage the team in production and continuous improvement activities, including ownership of line management accountability.
- Assist with developing our in-house manufacturing capability and drive a culture of safety within the manufacture and assembly environment.
- Be responsible for the productivity (OPR) of the Assembly Line, managing to a predefined schedule of production and maintain product quality control and deliver and develop a defects and resolution process (5F).
- Be responsible for people development by creating communication channels, focusing on people management and developing skills and for delivering an environmentally compliant and progressive facility, ensuring environmental management processes are sustained.
**About You**
To be truly successful in this role, you’ll possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Be a proven professional with practical, hands-on experience of leading a semi-automated assembly line, utilising problem solving, driving continuous improvement, creating Standard Operating Procedures, and driving line balancing to consistently deliver optimum efficiency and quality.
- Be a recognised leader with experience of delivering machining and fabrication areas, maximising up time availability, optimising flow, and taking action to improve engagement indicators.
- Ability to demonstrate tangible performance improvements through creating a plan, introducing, and managing process improvement initiatives, influencing across all levels of the business, and changing behaviours.
- Demonstrate proven problem analysis and solving capabilities using advanced tools and route cause analysis, and managing across the full operating system of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People and Environment.
- Desirably, possess a safety qualification, such as IOSHH.
