Senior Buyer - Manufacturing - West Yorkshire - c£35k-£40k p.a. + benefits
About the Company
Our client is a reputable and growing manufacturing organisation based in West Yorkshire, known for high-quality products and commitment to innovation. As a leader in their industry, they prioritise efficiency, sustainability, and customer satisfaction. To support their ongoing growth, they are seeking a proactive Senior Buyer to join their dedicated procurement team.
Role Overview
As Senior Buyer, you will join a small close-knit team responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials, components, and services essential for their manufacturing processes. You will work closely with suppliers to secure the best value while ensuring that quality and delivery standards meet production needs.
Key Responsibilities
*Source, negotiate, and manage the procurement of raw materials, components and services to support manufacturing operations.
*Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to secure cost-effective and reliable supplies, as well as creating partnerships to drive innovation, continuous improvement and value engineering.
*Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with production teams to forecast material requirements.
*Negotiate contracts and agreements to achieve the best terms for the company.
*Conduct market research to identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative suppliers.
*Evaluate supplier performance, ensuring compliance with quality and delivery standards.
*Manage purchase orders and maintain accurate records in the company’s ERP system.
*Resolve any supply chain disruptions to ensure smooth manufacturing operations.
Candidate Requirements
*Previous experience in a Sourcing, Buying or Procurement role, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
*Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
*Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
*Ability to analyse data, forecast demand, and manage multiple priorities.
*CIPS qualification (or working towards) is desirable but not essential.
*Knowledge of supply chain best practices and vendor management.
