Job Description:
Schools Senior Operations Manager 3-4 Month Contract 4 days per week
Job Purpose: The postholder is responsible for leading the team delivering effective and efficient operational support for all BNU’s Schools. They will maintain and deliver a wide range of complex duties providing support for Schools in relation to ongoing academic operations.
They will liaise with a range of colleagues and stakeholders from across BNU to administer operational and learner support activities for BNU. They will also identify and attend to training needs of key stakeholders to ensure understanding of and compliance with regulations and other requirements.
The postholder will act as the main point of contact for expertise in operational administration for BNU’s Schools and will manage a team of staff to co-ordinate, deliver and continually enhance associated School operations.
The postholder will practice an inclusive approach and support building an inclusive university community where people can be themselves.
Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:
*Support BNU’s Schools in their administrative management and operations, representing the Schools when necessary, delivering against medium to long-term objectives of the Schools.
*Effective deployment, coordination and management of a centralised and multi-skilled operational service staff team to work flexibly in providing cohesive support to BNU’s Schools. Maintain customer service standards, ensuring that there are effective processes in place to ensure standards are met.
*Engage with the Schools closely and ensure both the needs and requirements of the Schools are understood within the University, and that the needs and requirements of the University are understood in the Schools. Additionally, in doing so manage the planning, implementation and evaluation of School operations to support the efficient, consistent and timely delivery of support in accordance with planned schedules and deadlines.
*To take responsibility for the creation, development and implementation of processes to support our provision, liaising with relevant teams across the University as required. To review and enhance processes as required to ensure continuous improvement.
*To provide authoritative and specialist guidance and advice to academics, PSEs and learners on School operational matters and the implementation of University regulations, policies and processes.
*Monitor and maintain Schools’ Support related budgets and utilise oversight processes to ensure effective expenditure monitoring across the Schools’ Support function.
*Act as a point of escalation for line-managed reports on complex or challenging queries or matters, demonstrating knowledge of appropriate systems, policies, regulations or legislation.
*To be responsible for ensuring the implementation of key workstreams, including the following (plus others as appropriate):
*onboarding of new School staff;
*administration of leaving staff;
*liaison with other Directorates as appropriate in order to run School projects and events;
*Academic learning and development finance;
*guest lecturer administration;
*external reviewer administration;
*School finance activities including purchase orders, requisitions and invoicing;
*School data investigation and reporting.
