Head of Finance | Enterprise SaaS Start-up | London
Harmonic is super excited to be working with one of London’s fastest growing Enterprise SaaS start-ups, who after 6 months have already reached a staggering £20m ARR, in their search for a Head of Finance.
The Client:
Our client operates a SaaS platform with a significant buy-and-build element, providing capital and strategic support to help founder-led software businesses scale quickly within a shared cloud ecosystem. They focus on empowering innovative B2B companies with resources and tools like modern business applications, data analytics, and AI.
The venture is poised to become one of Europe’s SaaS leaders, having surged to a £20m ARR within six months and secured $100m in funding, primarily through strategic debt. One of the co-founders you will be working alongside brings notable experience from their time as a Partner at one of Europe’s leading venture capital firms and a successful background in B2B SaaS.
This role offers the opportunity to join a high-growth ’Rocketship’ at the forefront of cloud-enabled solutions for modern business.
The role:
As the first finance hire you will be tasked with building the function from the ground up. Currently all things finance are outsourced and there you will be expected to be hands on in building the function from the ground up, while also having the opportunity work closely with the founding team on growth strategies. As one of the first hires for the business this is an exceptional opportunity to work alongside two of the industries brightest minds and be part of one of Europe’s fastest growing businesses.
As the Head of Finance, you will establish and lead the finance function, consolidating financial across its portfolio of founder-led business. Your role will involve designing a robust internal reporting structure, transition from outsourced accounting and preparing strategic metrics for the leadership team. In the first 3 months, you’ll focus on creating standard reporting formats, overseeing consolidation, and implementing budgeting and forecasting processes. You’ll also help establish the company KPIs such as ARR, Churn and Revenue unification.
Responsibilities:
*Establish and lead the finance function: Build and scale the in-house finance team and infrastructure from the ground up.
*Transition from outsourced accounting: Oversee the shift from outsourced accounting to an in-house function, ensuring smooth integration.
*Develop reporting structures and controls: Design standard financial reporting formats and implement robust internal controls and policies.
*Consolidate financial across portfolio companies: Manage the consolidation of financial data for all founde-led businesses within the portfolio.
*Implement budgeting and forecasting: Develop and lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
*Track and report key financial metrics: Establish and monitor KPIs like ARR, Churn and revenue unification to support strategic growth.
*Collaborate on growth strategies: Work closely with the founding team to provide financial insight and guidance on business growth initiatives.
*Manage Cash flow and liquidity: Ensure effective cash flow management and financial liquidity for operations and growth.
*Lead and mentor the finance team: Build, develop, and lead a high-performing finance team while fostering a culture of accountability.
*Prepare Investor and board reports: Develop and present financial reports for stakeholders, including variance analysis and strategic recommendations.
What we need to see (Essential experience):
*Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
*6+ year of experience in a finance role with 2+ years in a leadership position
*Experience working in a start-up/high-growth environment
*Flexibility to lead in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
*Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
*Willingness to be hands on
*A confident critical thinker who can jump into different problems and come up with both tactical and strategic recommendations
What we would like to see (Bonus experience):
*Previous experience within B2B SaaS
*International Group Consolidation experience
*Experience of setting up finance processes in a start-up/high growth environment
*Debt-convent financing experience
*Big-4 trained
Salary: £100,000 - £120,000 + Equity
