Job Description:
Summary We’re looking for a Collections Assistant to join our team at Petworth.
Salary: £11.64 per hour
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, because our operational opening is seven days a week and our work pattern includes weekends, as well as out-of-hours events, we also ask for a flexible approach to working hours, this can be discussed more at interview.
Duration: Fixed-term contract for 12 months

What it’s like to work here Reporting to the Senior Collections & House Officer, you’ll share our enthusiasm for the preservation and presentation of our internationally renowned collection. You’ll share collection knowledge and experiences with colleagues, volunteers, and visitors, helping to raise awareness of the challenges we face with collections care.
We are open 363 days a year and growing our visitor numbers, from local communities and independent adults to families. We are proud to look after a place of international significance, but our focus is firmly on becoming locally loved and relevant too.
What you’ll be doing As part of a Collection and House team you will deliver a high standard of presentation, contributing to day-to-day preventive conservation cleaning.
You’ll also use opportunities during operational opening for volunteer/visitor engagement to demonstrate how you maintain excellent collection care.
You’ll work with the team to monitor environmental conditions and record the effects of Light, RH% and pest numbers. You’ll also create and update collection related documentation to record wear and tear as part of our annual programme of care. Using NT Collection Management System, you’ll record collection movements, update salvage information, and take measures to safeguard the collection during events and exhibitions.
You’ll take a proactive and positive approach to provide support to wider property teams and will assist in the delivery of a rolling programme of events, exhibitions, and other activities. Helping to create an inclusive and diverse environment as part of our new strategy.
Preventive conservation monitoring of the collection often involves working at height from tower scaffold and the supervised movement of collection objects which are often large and heavy.
