Job Description:
Youth Engagement Mentor - SEN School Wakefield
Engage Education are working with a challenging and rewarding SEN Secondary School in Wakefield to recruit various Youth Engagement Mentors
Applications for the position of Youth Engagement Mentor are welcome from candidates with a range of experience and various backgrounds (social work, sports coaching, education etc.) Previous experience working with students with challenging behaviour is a highly advantageous.
If you are a future/aspiring teacher or an experienced SEN teaching assistant - this opportunity could be ideal for you.
This is a full-time role to start as soon as possible (pending background checks).
The students have the following learning needs:
* Autism
* Social Emotional Mental Health difficulties
* Speech, Language Communication Needs
* Challenging behaviours
The ideal candidate:
* Patient, flexible and resilient manner.
* Enthusiastic and passionate about helping children with special educational needs.
* You will be expected to think on your feet and be proactive, no day is the same in a Special School, so being prepared is vital.
* Ability to form excellent relationships and rapport with pupils and staff alike, to support pupils in conjunction with a much wider support network.
* A good understanding of working with students with ASD, learning difficulties and challenging behaviour.
* Enthusiastic about raising the attainment of their pupils and delivering the secure, welcoming and warm learning environment that they deserve.
