Job Description:
Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and creating an inclusive learning environment?
We are currently seeking a compassionate and proactive LSA to support SEN students in achieving their full potential.
We work with a vibrant and supportive SEN school that caters to students with a range of learning needs, including autism, moderate learning difficulties, and emotional/behavioural challenges. We are committed to creating an environment where every child feels valued, respected, and supported to achieve their best.
Key Responsibilities: *Work closely with the class teacher to provide tailored support to students with a variety of special educational needs, both in the classroom and in small group settings.
*Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and personalised learning strategies.
*Help students with activities of daily living (e.g., personal care, transitions between lessons, lunchtime support) where required.
*Support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour.
*Assist with the preparation of learning resources and materials.
*Work with other staff members and external professionals (e.g. therapists, SENCOs) to support student progress and wellbeing.
*Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where all students feel respected and encouraged to learn.
*Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour in line with school policies.
The Ideal Candidate Will: *Have experience as an LSA or working with children or young people with special educational needs, either in a school, care, or similar setting.
*Flexibility to work full time, 5 days a week
*Be patient, empathetic, and have a positive attitude towards supporting children with a wide range of needs.
*Have a good understanding of child development and SEN, with knowledge of strategies to support students with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, or other complex needs (desirable).
*Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
*Be flexible and adaptable in responding to students’ individual needs, both academically and emotionally.
*Hold relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) or be willing to work towards them.
*A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
