Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Transport & Logistics Operations Supervisor, known onsite as a Site Operations Supervisor in Huncoat - £28,454pa to assist the Site Operations Manager with the smooth running of the Huncoat site.
You will have previous experience of home delivery & working within a transport office and some experience within a warehouse would also be preferred.
Working hours : 40hrs per week. 3 rotating shift times between 6am and 10pm.
The Role
The operations supervisor will assist the Site Operations Manager with the smooth running of the Huncoat site. You will have previous experience of home delivery & working within a transport office.
Daily responsibilities include:
*Support a safe and legally compliant Cross Dock and Transport operation
*Supporting the Site Operations Manager ensuring that all processes are adhered to on site and on the road.
*Supporting the Cross Dock operations, operating plans, fleet, equipment and resourcing levels meet demand
*Exemplifies the company’s values and behaviours. Be an inspirational leader communicating consistently
*Customer focused, ensuring all colleagues understand the impact their role has on customer service; managing performance to improve NPS.
*Provide innovative solutions to continuously improve performance
*Coach and mentor the team building talent and succession plans throughout the Cross Dock Operation.
*Work closely with the Site Operations Manager to ensure efficiencies can be identified and best in practice procedures put into place
*Supporting objective setting and performance reviews are in place for all colleagues
*Help to Organise service and maintenance of MHE and vehicles in line with legal requirements
*Help to Manage driver hours in line with working time legislation and have demonstrable experience in road transport legislation, transport planning and first line management of drivers.
Skills needed We are looking for an experienced Site Operations Supervisor with the following skills, experience and attributes to be successful in this role:
*Previous experience within a transport operation is essential
*Previous experience within a warehouse would be desirable.
*Experience managing a team of people.
*Good geographical knowledge
*Extensive understanding of transport legislation
*CPC in Road Haulage Management would be an advantage
*Computer Literacy
*Effective communication style and ability to influence home delivery crews
*Demonstrate the ability to improve team performance
Personal Qualities / Behaviours
*Positively contributes to the team
*Hard working, conscientious and willing to go the ’extra-mile’
*Flexible approach and attitude to work
*Great customer service ethic
*Self-Motivated and disciplined
*Have flexibility to work additional hours during peak trading or to cover absence
