Job Description:
Our client in Sunderland is looking for a Health and Safety Assistant to join their team.
In this role you will provide efficient and effective support to the Health, Safety, Risk and Assurance Team. The role will involve managing and analysing various data and statistics and generating associated reports, monitoring the progress of actions raised by the Health and Safety Team, administering and overseeing the issue and use of lone worker devices and assisting the Health and Safety Team in managing the hand arm vibration monitoring programme.
Key Responsibilities
• Supporting the Health, Safety, Risk and Assurance Team in the implementation of the Group’s management systems for health and safety management, fire safety, building safety, risk and technical assurance.
• Collating and analysing data and statistics, generating management information reports, identifying trends and potential issues for a range of measures, including:
o accident and incident data
o audit and inspection data o fire safety data o technical assurance data.
• Monitoring the progress of actions raised during audits, inspections, incident investigations and other assessments and liaising with relevant members of the Health and Safety Team to ensure actions are closed and suitable evidence has been provided and is retained.
• Managing the issue and use of lone worker devices across the Group, including following up on any "red alerts" raised by users, analysing usage data, generating and issuing monthly reports to each business area.
• Working with the Health and Safety Advisors to manage the use of hand arm vibration monitoting devices across the Group, including analysing usage data, generating and issuing monthly reports to each business area and monitoring over exposure reports.
• Working with the Health, Safety, Risk and Assurance Team to produce a quarterly newsletter.
• Working with the Health and Safety Advisors to deliver the Health and Safety communication plan, including posting information and updates to the health, safety and environment workplace page.
• Working with the Head of Safety, Risk and Assurance and the Health and Safety Manager to keep the Health, Safety, Risk and Assurance SharePoint site up to date.
• Administering meetings of the Group’s Health and Safety Committee, Fire and Building Safety Steering Group and other working groups overseen by the Health and Safety Team, including scheduling the meetings, taking minutes, issuing actions and monitoring the progress against those actions.
• Supporting the Health and Safety Manager and Health and Safety Advisors with the planning and implementation of the health and safety mentors programme.
• Managing the database of risk assessments and safe systems of work and liaising with the Health and Safety Manager to ensure risk assessments and safe systems of work are reviewed at the required intervals.
• Monitoring the health and safety email inbox and allocating emails and incidents reported via MySafe to the relevant member(s) of the Health and Safety Team.
• Monitoring incidents received via MySafe and allocating them to the relevant member(s) of the Health and Safety Team.
• Overseeing outstanding and overdue incident investigations and associated actions and providing a weekly update to the Health and Safety Manager.
• Supporting the Health, Safety, Risk and Assurance Team to ensure they are compliant with procurement regulations.
• Supporting the Head of Safety, Risk and Assurance to prepare Board reports and supporting documents.
• Providing other support to the Health and Safety Team as required.
