Consultant Psychologist / Clinical Lead
Community Partnerships/Op COURAGE Integrated Veterans’ Mental Health & Wellbeing Service
Location: East Midlands (remote working & travel required)
Career Level C / Professional (NHS Band 8c)
Salary: £70,455 - £85,000 per annum inclusive of travel allowance (depending on experience)
Permanent full time although part time 4 days per week may be considered
We have an exciting opportunity for someone who is already an established Leader in their service or someone is ready to develop into a leadership role to become the Clinical Lead for our East Midlands and East of England treatment pathways within Op Courage. If you are a proactive Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with strong leadership and excellent communication skills who would be excited about the opportunity to be the Clinical Lead for this service and to be part of a team of dynamic, passionate and highly skilled clinicians we want to hear from you.
The Role
The successful applicant will join highly motivated and friendly team and you will be responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team whose focus is on providing specialist psychosocial interventions for veterans with service-attributable trauma. The team is part of a collaborative partnership in both the Midlands and East of England and so you will be working alongside colleagues in other partner organisations to ensure the delivery of the local Op Courage Veteran Mental Health & Wellbeing Service.
This role will suit a person already located in the Midlands or East of England who has a genuine interest in working with Veteran’s and clinical experience to match. You will have significant experience of working with complex mental health presentations, including chronic and complex PTSD and substantial experience in supervising others. Experience of delivering community-based treatment will be essential in helping you work with our partners and service users to deliver a bespoke and flexible service.
You will have an established track record of leading and inspiring teams and an established ethos of using outcome data and service user feedback to drive service development. You will be able to work independently as well as closely and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. You will be eager to take ownership and responsibility for delivering your work and will be self-driven, results-oriented and be able to demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills.
Although the offices are based in Northampton, the post holder will also be required to deliver psychological treatments and attend partnership events in the Midlands and East of England. Due to the travel required, a full driver’s licence is essential. However, in return, you will also benefit from having the flexibility to work from home when appropriate to do so.
The Service
Community Partnerships specialises in developing and delivering community based services for St Andrew’s, a mental health charity. Op COURAGE is an NHS mental health specialist service designed to help serving personnel due to leave the military, reservists, armed forces veterans and their families. Op COURAGE can support with the transition from military to civilian life by providing mental health care with Defence Medical Services (DMS); helping individuals to recognise and treat early signs of mental health problems, as well as more advanced mental health conditions and psychological trauma; providing support and treatment for substance misuse and addictions; helping individuals to access other NHS mental health services if you need them; liaising with charities and local organisations to support wider health and wellbeing needs and supporting armed forces families affected by mental health problems, including helping them to access local services.
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Consultant Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our team in the Op COURAGE Integrated Veteran Mental Health & Wellbeing Service Treatment Pathway. The service is commissioned by NHSE Armed Forces and delivered through a collaborative partnership with a range of NHS, charity and third sector organisations. St Andrews supports the delivery of psychological assessment and intervention in Midlands Op COURAGE and East of England Op COURAGE. The post holder will support the delivery of individual and group psychological interventions in the East Midlands and East of England Op COURAGE as well as supporting the team and both services more widely in relation to supervision, consultation, training, service development and evaluation. We will particularly welcome applications from individuals with a strong interest and high level of knowledge in trauma informed practice and working with complex presentations.
Interventions and partnership meetings will be offered both remotely and face to face across the East Midlands and East of England region so the ideal candidate would be comfortable with both modalities and also be able to travel.
Within the role, you will be encouraged to develop your strengths and skills through clinical supervision and opportunities for professional development. St Andrews provides opportunities for research, training and continuing professional development and you will also have access to peer support from the wider Op COURAGE pathway, wider Charity, as well as regular CPD events. Due to the innovative nature of this service, there will be opportunities for service development including co-production with service users and an interest and enthusiasm in these areas is desirable. You will be supported to develop your role within our service according to your specific strengths and areas of professional interest.
