Job Description:
Due to a period of expansion our client are looking for a dedicated Electronics Service Engineer to join their team, working within our purpose built on-site laboratory.
You will be part of a cutting-edge electronics engineering company that operates in a privileged niche market sector offering:
• High quality DC power supply (psu) servicing repair and replacements.
• Custom low volume psu design and build.
• Manufacture of ultra-high reliability DC power solutions.
Our client works with some of the largest industrial organisations in the UK such as EDF Energy, BAE, Highways Agency and Thales UK.
Role Responsibilities:
You will be primarily responsible for:
• Repairing and refurbishing a variety of light industrial electronic equipment down to component level.
• Testing, calibration and documenting a range of AC-DC power supplies manufactured in-house.
• Creating electronic documentation such as build instructions and repair procedures.
Qualifications, Competencies and Professional Experience:
Essential:
• Previous workplace experience in electronics.
• Must have a good understanding of basic analogue electronics and components.
• Highly competent hand soldering and reworking skills, including small SMD components.
• Ability to understand technical drawings and schematics.
• Familiarity with basic test and measurement equipment such as DVM’s, Avometers and Oscilloscopes.
• Good level of computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
• A ’continuous improvement’ mindset.
Desirable:
• A minimum of 2 years in an electronics repair/service role.
• GCSE or A-Level Grade ’C’ in Electronics/Physics/Maths or a Technical ONC/HNC qualification.
• An appreciation of various switch power supply conversion techniques.
