Job Description:
Location: Dover
Job Title: Customs Clerk
Hours of work: Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:30
Salary: £28,000 per annum
Please note this is a fixed term contract for 1 year
We are assisting our Dover based client in their search for a Customs Clerk. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with customs regulations and facilitating the smooth movement of goods through customs checkpoints.
Key Responsibilities:
*Prepare and submit customs documentation in compliance with regulations.
*Coordinate with customs officials to ensure timely clearance of shipments.
*Verify accuracy of import and export documentation.
*Classify goods according to tariff coding system.
*Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations and procedures.
*Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to customs clearance.
*Communicate with internal teams and external stakeholders to provide updates on shipment status.
Qualifications:
*Proven experience working in customs clearance or freight forwarding is essential (minimum of 2 years experience is required)
*Strong knowledge of customs regulations and procedures.
*Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
*Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
