Job Description:
AWS Data Engineer - Outside IR35 contract
Role will be mostly remote but must be able to travel on site to Lichfield when necessary
A leading organisation are are embarking on an exciting program of transformation, including the modernisation of key informational systems and business processes looking to build out a new Agile Team to develop Data Services within AWS. This is an opportunity to be a major player in re-architecting and modernising core data services to empower the business and our onward transformational journey.
Responsibilities
*Experience implementing complex ETL and data extraction projects from scratch, including building out scalable and reliable pipelines and processes to ingest data from a large number and variety of data sources.
*Data extraction through RESTful API services
*Proficiency with a variety of AWS-native data management and analytics tools and services, such as AWS Glue, DataBrew, Athena, LakeFormation, EMR, MSK, Kinesis, etc.
*Building data expertise and data quality into ETL pipelines by profiling data to measure quality, integrity, accuracy, and completeness
*Working within an AGILE based team structure to plan and support definition, coding and deployment of Java, Java Script, Rest based APIs within a code pipeline to create domain data services within principles and practices of MACH.
*Thorough knowledge of data security, privacy and compliance regulations
*Programming in Python, Java (and learning other languages as needed) to process large amounts of structured and unstructured data
*Delivering systems and features with the best performance and scaled to growing business needs
Must have experience with:
*5+ years development experience of SQL, AWS Stack (S3, Redshift, RDS, MySQL, PostGreSQL)
*Data structure model and design, data (de)normalization, data indexing, data reporting
*Query performance and tuning.
*Design data solutions by understanding business requirements and translating them into technical components as building blocks of the to-be solution.
*Ability to create and maintain data standards and governance.
*Strong technical skills and the desire to learn new technologies and methodologies.
*Excellent verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including ability to succinctly summarize key findings and effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
