Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a dynamic secondary school in Guildford. The ideal candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support students in their learning journey, fostering confidence, independence, and academic progress. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners, including those with additional needs.
You will play a vital role in helping students achieve their potential by providing tailored support and contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
*Provide one-on-one and group support to students during lessons.
*Assist students with additional needs, including SEN, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
*Help prepare and adapt classroom resources to meet individual learning needs.
*Support students’ personal and emotional development, building positive relationships.
*Encourage active participation and engagement in lessons and extracurricular activities.
*Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and the SENCO.
*Promote positive behaviour and reinforce school policies and values.
*Assist in maintaining a safe and welcoming classroom environment, including helping during practical lessons.
*Supervise students during break times, trips, or activities as needed.
Essential Skills and Experience
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and staff.
*A proactive and flexible attitude to adapt to various classroom situations.
*Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting.
*Knowledge of supporting students with additional needs, including SEN and EAL.
*Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices in schools.
Qualifications
*GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (minimum grade C/4).
*Relevant qualifications in education or child development are advantageous.
