Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate Finance Business Partner with a background in cost accounting to join a dynamic finance team. In this role, you will work closely with business leaders, operational teams, and senior finance colleagues to provide strategic financial support, cost analysis, and business insights. You will contribute to financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making processes, focusing on optimising cost structures and improving financial performance across the organisation.
Cost Accounting & Analysis:
*Perform cost analysis and ensure accurate and timely cost reporting for products, projects, or business units.
*Maintain cost accounting systems and work on improving processes to capture costs accurately.
*Analyse variances between actual costs and budgeted costs, identifying trends and providing actionable insights for management.
*Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring the accuracy of cost-related financial data.
Financial Planning & Forecasting:
*Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, incorporating cost considerations into the overall financial plan.
*Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide insights and recommendations on cost control measures and efficiency improvements.
*Support financial modelling to assess cost structures and identify opportunities for margin improvement.
Business Partnering & Strategic Support:
*Serve as a trusted business partner to operational teams, providing guidance on cost management and profitability.
*Help drive the financial performance of specific business units by identifying cost drivers and potential areas for savings.
*Support business decision-making by providing financial insights and recommendations, ensuring alignment with overall strategic goals.
*Participate in regular business reviews and meetings, contributing financial analysis to key operational decisions.
Reporting & Compliance:
*Prepare regular cost-related reports, including variance analysis and cost trends for senior management.
*Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements in all cost-related processes.
*Assist with external audits and ensure that cost accounting records are accurate and complete.
Process Improvement:
*Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes, particularly around cost accounting and reporting.
*Leverage systems and technology to automate and streamline cost tracking and reporting functions.
*Identify opportunities for process optimization to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and value creation.
Experience:
*2-4 years of relevant experience in cost accounting, finance, or business analysis, preferably in a large or complex organisation.
*Proven experience in cost analysis, financial reporting, and budgeting/forecasting processes.
Technical Skills:
*Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced level) and experience with financial software (Oracle or JDE)
*Experience with financial reporting and analysis tools.
*Knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g. IFRS, GAAP).
*Experience with CIS
