Location: Langley, Slough
Hourly Rate: £30,000 - £35,000 DOE

Our client is seeking a Workshop Technician with a solid background in engineering and manual machining techniques to join their busy team. This role involves hands-on work with manual lathes, milling machines, bench drills, and hand tools, and it’s ideal for someone who enjoys an old-school engineering environment where quality and craftsmanship are highly valued.
About the Role: As a Workshop Technician, you will be responsible for operating manual machining equipment to manufacture a wide range of components to precise specifications. You will work closely with the production and engineering teams to maintain high standards of accuracy and quality, ensuring each component is made to exacting standards. The position also involves reading engineering drawings, troubleshooting machine settings, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workspace.
Key Responsibilities:
*Operate manual lathes, milling machines, and bench drills to produce components based on technical drawings.
*Use hand tools and precision measurement equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure all components meet quality standards.
*Read, interpret, and work from complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
*Machine a variety of materials, including metals, alloys, and plastics.
*Conduct regular maintenance of workshop equipment, report mechanical issues, and ensure optimal machine performance.
*Collaborate with engineering and production teams to solve technical issues and improve processes.
*Perform quality checks on finished components to ensure compliance with required tolerances.
*Maintain a clean and safe workshop environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
About You: The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and is looking to put their skills to use in an engineering workshop. You should have a solid background in operating manual machinery and be confident in using hand tools. You must be comfortable reading engineering drawings and able to follow instructions precisely.
Key Skills & Experience Required:
*Hands-on experience operating manual lathes, milling machines, and bench drills.
*Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.
*Proficient in using measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
*Comfortable handling heavy objects occasionally.
*Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
*Excellent time management skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
*Reliable, punctual, and willing to work overtime when required.
