Job Description:
Pastoral Coach (ESOL) *Contract Type: Temporary, Full-Time
*Salary: £15-20 per hour including holiday pay
*Location: Derby
A college in Derby is seeking a Pastoral Coach to join their ESOL department. This role involves collaborating with the Lexis Academy to provide essential pastoral support. The successful candidate will work directly with students and their next of kin, focusing on attendance, behaviour, and overcoming the challenges faced by ESOL learners. You will also develop and deliver extracurricular activities that enhance students’ social skills and character development, ensuring each student reaches their full potential.
Day-to-day of the role: *Identify students in need of pastoral support in collaboration with the Lexis Academy.
*Work directly with students and their next of kin to address issues related to attendance and behaviour.
*Develop and deliver a range of extracurricular activities that enhance students’ social skills and character discovery.
*Provide targeted support and intervention to ensure each student achieves their potential.
*Support students through enrolment, induction, performance assessments, and progression to positive destinations.
Required Skills & Qualifications: *Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English.
*Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within an educational setting focused on ESOL.
*Current DBS on the update service.
*Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
*Ability to develop and implement effective strategies for student engagement and support.
*A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and discretion.
