Job Description:
Weston College is the regional provider for the Prison Education Framework (PEF) across the South West of England and is now seeking to recruit an outstanding and highly motivated Lecturer in Personal and Social Development at HMP Channings Wood.
This is a permanent, part time role working 29.6 hours per week.
Day to day duties of the role
*To deliver a high-quality Personal and Social Development curriculum or an alternative as led by the Weston College management team
*Organisational and administrative work.
*Preparation, assessment and marking.
*Developing and maintaining a full course file including comprehensive scheme of learning and lesson planning.
*Developing and completing ILPs and contextual statements to monitor individual learner progress.
Required skills and qualifications
*A degree, or professional qualification, which is appropriate to the work.
*Knowledge and experience of current teaching and learning strategies
*Excellent team working, communication and interpersonal skills
*Excellent computer literacy skills including an up to date knowledge of Microsoft Office.
*All candidates for teaching posts must possess a recognised Teaching Qualification, or be prepared to gain within the first two years of service, with the assistance of the College.

Located in Devon, HMP Channings Wood is an acclaimed Category C men’s prison operated by His Majesty’s Prison Service. The facility, focused on security and safeguarding, includes a main site and a vulnerable prisoner’s unit. It possesses four industrial workshops, vocational training courses, educational activities, and comprehensive offending behaviour programs. At HMP Channings Wood, individuals are equipped with functional skills such as English, mathematics, IT and Essential Digital Skills, and vocational skills such as painting and decorating, barbering and construction; skills and knowledge that can help people to make a successful transition back into society.
