Senior Business Analyst - 3.5 Year FTC

Job Description:
We’re currently looking for a Senior Business Analyst on an initial 3.5 year FTC for one of our University clients in Edinburgh.
The successful candidate will lead large business change projects which are designed to help enhance the way the University administers and supports the student lifecycle with the objective of delivering effective and efficient processes, systems and data to the students, academic and professional service staff who engage with the student lifecycle. This will be achieved by developing innovative and sustainable business process change and providing a high level of business process analysis, redesign, project management and change skills.
Main Duties Include;
Provide Senior Business Analysis skills and expertise on projects and other work packages to
ensure that:
*Large/High Profile/High Risk projects are delivered by taking ownership for their effective delivery ensuring they deliver a measurable benefit to the University and focus remain on the resolution of the business challenge/need delivered through enhancement and change to key enablers including business processes, system, data and staff training
*Manage often multi-disciplinary project teams from various areas of the University to deliver project objectives
*Manage stakeholder engagement and change processes appropriately for the size of projects the roleholder will be leading, ensuring appropriate levels of consultation and engagement are undertaken, any barriers are identified and removed/reduced, and changes will be embedded after the project has delivered;
*Support the Head of Service by providing business and system context for other proposed projects in the Student Systems (and other related) Programmes of work, proactively identifying operational implications and challenges/risk and providing options on potential approaches and solutions
*Mentor less experienced Business Analysts within the department, undertaking peer review and quality assurance of business requirements ensuring the validity, integrity and sustainability of the proposed business change
*Support the Head of Service in the development of standards and quality assurance for business analysis activity. Standards are maintained by working to agreed processes and procedures within the department.
Skills/Experience Required;
*Significant business analysis experience, preferably within Higher Education
*A good working knowledge of student and academic administration and the challenges associated with the business process and policies, through and in conjunction with software, which support that
*Demonstrable experience of being the business lead and/or project manager on a major/high profile project.
*Experience of working in an Agile project environment
*Experience of business process re-design and implementation and approaches to managing change successfully.
*Experience of writing SQL against databases, testing new IT solutions and an understanding of technical principles
*Strong communication and influencing skills which supports the development and implementation of projects and business change
*Has demonstrable commitment to staff training and development, including evidence of recent personal and professional development
