Job Description
The Finance Manager is responsible for managing CWRT’s loan portfolio, ensuring accurate month-end accounts, disbursements, daily monitoring, and comprehensive financial reporting. This role is critical for ensuring both the operational health of the loan portfolio and adherence to monthly financial reporting requirements, supporting CWRT’s mission and regulatory compliance with an aim to manage CWRT’s accounts holistically whilst considering the financial position of the company as a whole and the performance of each individual fund.
This role is about more than just numbers—it’s about driving our mission forward through sound financial management, strategic planning, and innovative thinking. You will oversee the financial operations, from budgeting and cash flow management to fund management and month-end processing, ensuring the organisation remains agile and impactful.
As a trusted part of the management team, you’ll play a critical role in helping to shaping financial strategies that maximise CWRT’s resources and expand our reach to underserved communities. By collaborating across departments, you’ll support lending activities, manage grants, and build financial models that help us create lasting economic opportunities for the individuals and businesses we serve.

Main Duties
Financial Management and Planning:
*Develop and oversee the organisation’s financial strategy, budgets, and forecasts.
*Monitor cash flow, manage liquidity, and ensure optimal allocation of resources.
*Prepare detailed financial reports, including monthly management accounts and annual financial statements.
*Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Financial Management and Month-End Accounts
*Oversee financial management related to the loan portfolio, ensuring accurate accounting for loan transactions.
*Finalise month-end accounts to a high standard of accuracy evidenced through reconciliation.
*Ensure that month-end closing entries are accurate and meet technical accounting standards, supporting external audit requirements and internal reviews within the agreed deadlines and timeframes for a month end close.
Portfolio Modelling and Analysis
*Develop, maintain and enhance financial models to evaluate and report on portfolio performance.
*Conduct regular analysis of portfolio health, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement/ potential areas for optimisation.
Compliance and Risk Management:
*Ensure compliance with CDFI-specific regulations, financial reporting standards, and legal requirements.
*Collaborate with Compliance Officer to establish risk mitigation strategies, implementing measures to manage credit risk and operational risk.
*Support with internal and external audits, maintaining accurate and transparent records.
*Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, ensuring sustainability and operational efficiency.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
*Lead and mentor the operations/finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.
*Work closely with the senior leadership team and CEO to align financial goals with the organisation’s mission.
