The platform can be applied to multiple disease indications and cell types, with an initial focus on inflammatory conditions. In addition to building its own pipeline, the company is forging external collaborations in target discovery, target validation, and patient stratification.
Job Description
Reporting to the SVP Operations, you will be responsible for managing the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the Finance department, delivering this through successful collaboration with all departments in the company. You will provide strategic and financial guidance to ensure that the company’s financial commitments are met. They are looking for a collaborative leader with the highest levels of professionalism, governance and prudence whilst always seeking continuous improvement where it will enhance the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the company, supporting delivery of R&D excellence.
Key responsibilities:
*Provide robust financial advice and leadership to the leadership team across a range of potential corporate projects, such as collaborations, transactions, diligence support and fundraising.
*Manage the finance department to ensure that all core finance functions are performed, recorded and reported in a compliant and timely manner, including payroll, treasury, cash flow, VAT compliance, corporate tax and transactional data.
*Own, review and sign off regular statutory financial reports created by the team.
*Management accounts, R&D tax credits, VAT, equity incentive schemes.
*Manage the company’s R&D tax environment to optimise company claims.
*Work closely with Portfolio Management to embed financial accountability and transparency in R&D projects by regularly providing updated financial performance against budget to support decision making and portfolio strategy.
*Devise regular KPI and Board packs used to track and measure the cash runway of the company, suggesting ways to optimise available cash funds.
*Support the CEO and CBO to model Series B fundraising which are aligned with R&D plans.
*Provide financial modelling on various discovery and clinical projects to be used for decision making and business development.
*Develop and oversee the company financial systems, controls and procedures to ensure the effective and efficient financial management of the company, whilst also spearheading new initiatives as part of a drive for continuous improvement.
*Monitor costs against budgets, reporting on time and cost variances to enable appropriate management action.
*Supporting the leadership team in the construction of the annual Budget, in accordance with the company process, assumptions and goals
*Devise regular and ad hoc reporting and analysis, in conjunction with the CEO, for use with investors.
*Act as main contact point for audits, delegating tasks as appropriate within the wider team.
*Build collaborative, value add relationships with other heads of department across key business planning initiatives, such as the annual budget, reforecast and annual business plans and strategies.
*Direct, manage and motivate the finance team to enable a high performing finance department, who work effectively and collaboratively throughout all levels of the company.
*Coach and develop team members to develop and maintain a high-performance delivery culture.
*Contribute to building a culture of commercial awareness and financial accountability appropriate to the current scale of the company, which is also relevant to the life sciences industry.
